I am awestruck by the hidden beauty of the underwater world. The seaweed presents itself as perfect sculptures swaying majestically, alongside intriguing symbiotic life forms. As I learn more about their significance on our planet, I cannot ignore the devastating impact that we humans have on them.

For me, creating things is a way of comprehending and processing grief. It's an attempt to pay homage, to hold on, and to showcase their preciousness and fragility by translating my impressions into metal. The act of crafting is a meditative process.

Holdfast, brooches, 2023

"Having the privilege to live close by the intertidal zone
and observing throughout the seasons the washed-up
treasures of the underwater world, I realised little do I know. Particularly the seaweeds stuck to little rocks inspired and intrigued me, perfect compositions - jewels in themselves.

Reading up on it, I found out that seaweeds just do that- anchor themselves onto rocks, and it has a lovely name called “holdfast”.

I had an epiphany, that we humans also need to feel
anchored to be able to enter into a state of flow."

“Through exploring and connecting with Tasmania’s environment, I grew a deep appreciation and pure gratitude of earth’s seemingly random, but perfect and ever surprising beauty.

To give this beauty justice and a way to express its self, I captured the landscapes stories and accentuate the characters - to let them speak for themselves. The shapes and surfaces are coming from an urban, architectural background; I love simplicity and textures."
